The two-time MX2 world champ is now a two-time 250 East coast supercross champ! Tom Vialle showed consistency can trump raw speed and, while the crash between Hampshire and Hammaker gave him somewhat of a gift, he was there to take advantage and after the, let’s face it, bizarre last place he was given in the mud at Foxborough after his crash despite scoreboard saying he got 12th, it was maybe the luck he deserved!

Either way, yet again, under the most pressure, Tom Vialle got it done by making the least mistakes, it was a race than encapsulated the entire season for Vialle with consistency getting the job done, but even he was shocked at this title victory!

Vialle said: “I can’t believe this, to be honest! I got a good start behind Haiden [Deegan], and I was feeling good, then I started to make a couple of mistakes, and both Seth [Hammaker] and RJ [Hampshire] got me, so then I was about five seconds back. I saw them both down in the corner, and I couldn’t believe it – I thought, ‘This is crazy!’ There were still about four laps to go, and I just did it from there to clinch the title. The speed was really high this year from everyone and I lost a lot of points in the mud at Foxborough, but overall I just tried to stay steady, and that’s what paid off in the end. I came to the United States to win Supercross titles, so to have two now is insane! Two championships are hard to win, so this feels really good to achieve this with the whole Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.”

But Vialle admitted he could not believe Hammaker was close behind him when he got back up after being taken out by Hampshire! “When I passed both of them in the corner, Seth was out of the track. So I did the next lap and looked behind me and saw Seth was right there! I could not believe it and thought maybe he is a lap down but I saw my pit board and i had 1.5- 2 seconds and i still had three laps to go. So that was pretty crazy, I actually my best laps those three last laps and I just went inside, inside the last two corners so he couldn’t pass me. I gave everything i had the last three laps.”

Looking ahead to outdoors, in what will be his last 250 season before now going 450 thanks to his two titles in row, Vialle was confident he could challenge Deegan for the title: “I am pretty excited, it’s going be my last outdoor season (250). I am pretty excited to race Haiden again. I feel like it’s been good the last couple of years outdoors. I have been riding with a lot of guys in Europe in the 250 class and the speed we have in outdoors (US) is pretty high. I am feeling better, the team and I have been working a bit on the bike so pretty excited, I am really looking forward to being in Pala in two weeks.”
