After missing the entire 2024 season due to injury, Czech talent Vitezslav Marek decided to make the step up to the EMX250 championship for 2025. However, the start of the season hasn’t gone the way he had hoped, prompting a change of plans. In an effort to rediscover his form and confidence, Marek recently lined up at Riola Sardo to compete in the EMX125 class instead.
Despite arriving in Sardinia battling illness, Marek decided the best move for the rest of the season would be to continue in the EMX125 series with the goal of enjoying his racing again and building back to his best. The Cermen KTM rider has shown great promise in the past, but injuries have unfortunately hampered his progress. Still, the potential is undoubtedly there, and Marek is determined to remind everyone what he’s capable of.
Speaking about the decision to step back to the EMX125 class, Marek told GateDrop.com:
“The reason to go back to the EMX125 class is because I was training and I tried the 125cc and felt very good on it. I got my drive back and was riding like myself again, and another point was that I was struggling with the 250cc. I don’t know why but I wasn’t comfortable at it, so we decided to go to Sardinia to see where we are at.”
Unfortunately, illness struck at the wrong time, making Riola Sardo an especially tough return.
“Sardinia was hard for me because I was ill all week and also during the weekend. So, I was battling more with myself than with the track or other riders. The starts were there at the weekend so that’s positive.”
Now committed to finishing the season in the EMX125 category, Marek is keeping his focus simple: enjoy riding again and aim for strong results as the season progresses.
“The goal for the rest of the EMX125 championship is to enjoy riding again and I think when I find my race pace back a little, I will fight for the top positions. That’s also the goal for the end of the season, to be a top rider in the class again.”
It’s been a rough road for Marek, but he’ll be hoping to put himself back in the mix before the 2025 season is over.
