Race One: Conditions were nice at the start of the race but then heavens open and conditions changed, very quickly! It was Mano Faure leading the way on lap one ahead of Nicolo Alvisi but it was Aron Katona who was on the move quickly getting into third.
Alvisi then started to pressure Faure and got himself into the lead and started to pull away at the front of the pack – the Italian lost his goggles ten minutes into the moto! His team mate, Katona then started to pressure him but the Hungarian had a crash – easy to do in difficult conditions.
Faure also had a crash which promoted Bellei into third – Faure was able to get himself into fourth again before the end of the race.
It was a disaster for McCullough who was well positioned on the first lap in ninth before having what looked like a nasty crash. Riders from behind then looked to hit him on his back – but he dug deep and came from dead last to twentieth for one vital championship point.
Race Two: Conditions were tough after plenty of overnight rain meant a wet and tough track. But that didn’t seem to bother Faure as he got the holeshot and never looked back. Alvisi was right behind him on the first lap but then the Italian crashed on the first lap.
Bellei was in second but McCullough who was fifth on the first lap had a great ride in the mud passing Bellei to bring home a superb second. Kubulins also passed Bellei to bring home a strong third position with the latter bringing home fourth.
Katona had bike issues which meant no points – not ideal but he still has the championship red plate.
Alvisi was able to get back to seventh even after another crash to end up second overall.
