Back in February, the Pierer Mobility Group issued a statement that offered some much-needed optimism for KTM fans and stakeholders. The group confirmed that €50 million in liquidity had been secured, with the goal of restarting production by March 2025. After a challenging period, it appeared that plans were firmly in place to get operations moving again.

However, it has since emerged that production has once again been halted. Despite the financial support and initial plans to resume in March, unforeseen complications has seen production stop once again.

At this stage, the new plan is for production to resume during the summer of 2025. Although no official date has been confirmed, it’s thought there is hope for operations to restart at the beginning of August.

This latest setback is undoubtedly frustrating for everyone involved, from the factory workers to dealers and customers around the world who are eagerly awaiting new bikes. Nevertheless, securing a specific timeline — even if tentative — is a positive step compared to the uncertainty of recent months.

Fingers crossed that this time, everything goes according to plan and KTM can get fully back on track in the months ahead.

The following update was revealed in a press release, which you can read in full, here:

Liquidity secured for the ramp-up of production

After production at the KTM plant in Mattighofen had been interrupted since December 13, 2024, the first steps towards restarting production began on March 17, 2025. This was made possible by the injection of funds totalling € 150 million from strategic partner Bajaj Auto.

According to current plans, subject to positive conclusion of the investor process, all four production lines will be back in operation by summer 2025. By then, the global supply chain will also be gradually reactivated to ensure a smooth production process with efficient throughput times and no further interruptions to production.
