The drama started immediately when Chase Sexton hit the gate then crashed on the first lap as Ken Roczen passed Aaron Plessinger for the lead with Webb following him through and it was back in time with another Webb/Roczen battle for the win! Webb stalked Roczen all race and made the move with a couple of laps to go as Sexton came from last all the way to third to salvage his night in a great ride!

Webb said: “You always feel comfortable and confident, I really liked were I was by lap 3. He felt the pressure and rode well all main event. I felt confident that whole main event, I have been in that position before.”

Max Anstie holeshot and pulled 6 seconds in Levi Kitchen until, with 7 seconds left on the clock, a red flag came out after a big Cameron McAdoo crash. It meant a staggered restart and Anstie’s lead wiped out!

In the restart, Anstie and Kitchen went bar to bar for several corners with Hampshire also involved but it was Kitchen who got the win and poor Max Anstie understandably feeling a bit robbed having pulled to that 6 second lead and having it vanish thanks to another rider crashing! Is it really fair?

McAdoo arguably cost Kitchen the West title with a crash last year but helped Kitchen get the win with a crash this year!

Anstie said: “At the end of the day I did my job, executed then red flag. I was in a tough spot, the track was quite open. I had it in the bag, I was cruising around the last two laps. It is what it is…what a bummer. Bobby Regan the team boss called earlier and said that somehow I said I didn’t expect to win, I don’t know where he got that from. If he’s not going to show up to the races don’t bother calling me anymore! I expect to do what I’m doing.”

Heat one

Nate Thrasher took the win despite riding with a broken finger and held off the man with a turn ACL Cameron McAdoo until McAdoo fell in the sand in the last lap but held off Vialle, who crashed previously in the race, to take fourth.

Heat two

Levi Kitchen pushed his way by Max Anstie for the lead and win but Anstie stayed with him with Hampshire taking third.
